Ackers Adventure is Birmingham’s hidden outdoor adventure, a charity that gets people of all ages, abilities and disabilities into the thrill of outdoor activity. Just two miles from the city centre and easy to reach by car or public transport, its 75 acres of grassland, woodland and marsh, cut through by the River Cole and the Grand Union Canal, make an unlikely urban oasis. Young people can take on a 100-metre ski slope, three climbing walls and a 20-metre tower with a zip wire, or try canoeing, kayaking, archery and bushcraft. For care-experienced children and young people, it is a place to build confidence, take on a challenge and discover what they are capable of.
