Why we exist
Care Is Our Collective Responsibility
Fatima Whitbread MBE grew up in the care system. She knows first-hand how much a young person’s future can depend on having trusted relationships, steady support and real opportunities. She also knows how easily those things can be missing.
Fatima's UK Campaign exists to help close that gap. Through our Action Hubs, Super Hubs, partnerships and policy work, we bring communities, local authorities, charities and employers together to create practical pathways for children in care and young people leaving care. We also make space for young people's voices to shape the decisions that affect their lives.
Our purpose is simple: every young person should have a sense of belonging, feel confident, and have a voice in shaping their future.

Meet our team
Fatima Whitbread MBE
Founder and Chair
Fatima spent the first 14 years of her life in children's homes after being abandoned as a baby.
After being fostered, she went on to break the javelin world record and win world and European Championship gold.
Fatima now campaigns to improve the care system and ensure children in care are "seen, heard and valued". She represents the care system sector and celebrate our young children, the remarkable resilience they show.
Fatima founded the Campaign as she believes that there is still significant progress to be made in helping the care experienced with a better start in life.
She understands how a nurturing and supportive environment can help children and young people. She believes in creating positive change through collaboration.
Gina Gardiner
Vice Chair
Gina Gardiner is a multiple number one international best-selling author, radio and TV host and leadership coach with over 35 years of experience.
She ran an award-winning school for over 20 years, mostly from a wheelchair after a serious ski accident. Learning to walk twice as an adult gave her a resilience that still shapes her work with leaders and organisations. Her radio show, Gina Gardiner & Friends, reaches over 3.2 million listeners a month, but what drives her most is helping people who experience care live happy, successful and fulfilling lives.
Gina and Fatima met in autumn 2023, when both were keynote speakers at Westminster Chapel. Fatima asked for help, and together they set up Fatima's UK Campaign... the rest, as they say, is history.

We represent the lives of real people in the UK care system. No individual is beyond our reach and no topic is too difficult. We bring hope into the darkest moments, because hope is what keeps people going.

This has been going on for too long. No one is going to clip our wings. We challenge the status quo, call out failure without hesitation, and push forward even when the system pushes back.
